Drug policy is... Dude, what was the question?

We are a nation of stoners. 16.2% of us have tried cocaine, 42.4% have smoked weed. That's just the ones who admit it. By contrast, 1.9% of Dutch have used coke and 19.8 have smoked weed. That's from a country where marijuana is legal and is supposed to be like a permanent Dead show. Shows how well the War on Drugs has worked, hasn't it?

Change You Deserve

That's the official slogan for house Republicans this year. This is an act of desperation from the party that's dimly coming to the realization that its image is in tatters. Change? From the group that brought us Iraq, dead bodies in New Orleans and $4/gal gas? Riiight.

But to show that they haven't gotten any better at thinking things through, It turns out they plagiarized this slogan from ads for Effexor, and antidepressant. I guess that must be the favorite drug amongst House Republicans given the way this year has gone for them so far.

You Go, Barney

It won't go anywhere, but the always entertaining Barney Frank has introduced legislation to decriminalize marijuana at the federal level. Congress and especially this President are nowhere near facing the fact that the War On Drugs has been an expensive waste of money, time and lives, but it's nice to see that it's even brought up. You have to start somewhere and Frank took a step.
